Administrators
The Texas Dance Educators’ Association (TDEA) has been in existence since 1978. In 2003, TDEA expanded its membership to include administration on both the campus and district level. Each year, the organization hosts a dance team convention in January at the Houston Marriott Marquis hotel downtown. The one-day workshop is designed to provide an opportunity for administrators to observe innovative methods in teaching the Fine Arts Dance TEKS, collaborate with other administrators, receive legislative updates regarding dance education, and learn how dance education can positively affect student learning and campus goals . Many experts working within the Dance field at both the secondary and collegiate level provide information in dance supervision and guidance of Dance Education according to TEA guidelines. The Convention also gives administrators an opportunity to meet prospective dance educators and tour an exhibit hall of vendors.
TDEA Administrators will receive all member communications throughout the membership year as well as email notifications on issues affecting dance education as needed.

Administrator Testimonials:
"I've been attending the TDEA Conference yearly. I've benefitted greatly from learning about the issues and sharing best practices that are specific to our dance programs. This strand has been working diligently toward advancing program standards, curriculum and advocacy for dance education in our schools."
-Patrick Paris

"Participation in the administrator professional development strand of the Texas Dance Educators Association has provided me, and many other district administrators, the opportunity to really work on the work. Topics and presentations pertaining to curriculum design, curriculum delivery, student assessment, and curriculum resources as well as teacher development strategies, program assessment and on through facility planning, and costuming (uniforms) are well prepared, well discussed and very informative. I would encourage every school district to be sure they had an administrator in attendance."
-Bob Bryant
